PESHAWAR
Awami National Party (ANP) provincial spokesperson MPA Samar Haroon Bilour has said that Ghazanfar Bilour, who joined ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday, was a non-political person, adding that party has not given him any responsibility or position inside the party.
In a significant development, ANP former senator Ilays Bilour son Ghazanfar Bilour held a meeting with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and expressed confidence in Imran Khan’s leadership.
Sources said that Minister for higher education Kamran Bangash and Minister for finance and health Taimur Saleem Jhagra played key roles in the development.
Ghazanfar is nephew of ANP senior leader Gulam Ahmad Bilour and late Bashir Ahmad Bilour.
He is one of the noted businessmen of Peshawar.
Ghazanfar Bilour was elected president of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) of 2018. He had defeated senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) Haji Ghulam Ali by 64 votes.
Although senior leadership of the ANP of the opinion that Ghazanfar was not part of the party but in reality he had contested election in 2013 on ANP ticket.
Political observers consider the move very political and have termed it a dent for ANP.
They believe that the Ghazanfar decision would further upset the unity of Bilour family and would play a key role in upcoming local body polls in Peshawar.
