The provincial president of Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan has said its party will follow Bacha Khan’s philosophy of non-violence in politics, adding that illiteracy and human rights violations afflicting Pashtuns preventing its steady advance towards progress and prosperity.
He said that ANP will continue its fight for the rights of this land and people in the light of Bacha Khan teaching and philosophy of non-violence, adding that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have not been given the right to vote in a transparent way.
Addressing the Bacha Khan peace poetry Mushaira in Swabi on the occasion of Bacha Khan’s death anniversary on Saturday, Aimal Wali Khan said that the change of government has pushed the terror-hit province into further darkness and backwardness.
Today University of Peshawar (UoP) and other public sector universities of the province have reached the verge of financial debacle due to the incumbent government incompetence and poor governance he added.
Aimal Wali appreciated the role of the students, teachers, doctors, paramedics and industrialists from all walks of life for standing up and voiced their issue despite all pressure for remaining silent.
He said that Pakhtuns were being subjected to unrest and terrorism under a conspiracy, their businesses and homes have been destroyed, Pakhtun scholars, intellectuals and leaders have been destroyed.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) rights activists went missing, their houses and mosques were blown up, Bacha Khan’s followers must stand united against these conspiracies and they have to be thwarted, he added.
Aimal said that Bacha Khan took an oath of welfare and development of this country after becoming Pakistan but in return he was imprisoned.
He had difficulties, his property was confiscated and he was given the title of traitor and enemy of the country, but he continued to fight for the rights of Pakhtuns till his last breath the provincial president said.
Bacha Khan and his associates drove the British out of here by making sacrifices and enduring hardships, now it is our responsibility to realize these sacrifices and fight for the rights of our nation and bring them out of the darkness.
He further said that the centenary celebrations of Anjuman-e-Islah-ul-Afghana would continue till December, during which seminars, discussions, poetry readings, stage plays and cultural programs would be organized at district and tehsil level.
ANP provincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak, Culture Secretary Khadim Hussain, Finance Secretary Mukhtiar Khan and district president Haji Amanullah among others addressed the function.
