PESHAWAR
The Cantonment Board Peshawar and District Administration Peshawar carried out a large-scale joint operation against illegal encroachments in Peshawar Cantt here on Monday.
The operation covered multiple key areas, including Saddar, Chowk Fawara, Nothia, Liaquat Bazar, Shafi Market, and Gora Bazar, among others.
In order to ensure an efficient and well-coordinated operation, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar deployed a team of senior officials, including Assistant Commissioner Shah Alam, Assistant Commissioner Mattani, Additional Assistant Commissioner Cantt, and Additional Assistant Commissioner City. Meanwhile, the Cantonment Executive Officer Ch Baber Hussain assigned a Vigilance and Enforcement Squad consisting of 100 officials, along with heavy machinery, under the supervision of Enforcement Superintendent Raja Yasir.
To maintain law and order during the operation, comprehensive security measures were put in place. Each operational group was provided with at least 50 police personnel, ensuring smooth execution. SP Cantt and SP City personally oversaw security arrangements and directed the respective SHOs to coordinate effectively with the enforcement teams.
As a result of the operation, seven trucks of encroached material were confiscated, and 21 individuals were booked under FIRs by West Police Station. The enforcement teams successfully cleared illegally occupied spaces, restoring accessibility and order in the affected areas.
The anti-encroachment initiative was met with a positive response from the local business community, who appreciated the authorities’ efforts to maintain clear public spaces and improve the commercial environment.
The District Administration and Cantonment Board Peshawar reaffirm their commitment to continuing such operations to ensure encroachment-free public spaces and a more organized urban landscapes.
