Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) management committee Najam Sethi on Tuesday said former all-rounder Shahid Afridi was appointed head of the interim selection committee to take ‘bold’ decisions.
“He is the sort of person we want in the selection committee who can take bold decisions,” Sethi said in an interview to Arab News on Monday.
“He is someone to experiment with new talent, to realize where old is still gold and I think that was missing in this team which is why we had four defeats in a row in Test matches,” he said.
The previous PCB administration was under fire lately for developing poor quality flat pitches. Earlier, Afridi had promised to make “bouncy wickets” for the second Test in the ongoing series between Pakistan and New Zealand.
