ISLAMABAD
Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought reply from federal government till June 9 with reference to appointment of permanent commissioner of Indus Water Commission (IWC).
This post is lying vacant, however temporary appointment was made against this post till August 01, 2024.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition filed by Azhar Siddique advocate.
The court was informed during it that no permanent appointment has been made in IWC so far. It is most important institution and our water matters continue to run with India. During it additional charge was given which has also ended.
Under article 8 a permanent commissioner is must.
The state counsel also confirmed and told seat is lying vacant.
The court sought reply from government till June 9 besides adjourning the hearing of the case.
