KARACHI
In a brazen daylight heist, four armed robbers stormed the Edhi Home orphanage in the Sohrab Goth area of Karachi and looted Rs. 6.5 million in cash from the staff before fleeing the scene, according to officials.
According to a spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation, the money had been withdrawn from a bank and brought to the Edhi Home shortly before the incident. The robbers, who appeared to have been tracking the cash movement, arrived at the facility and snatched the money from employees at gunpoint.
The spokesperson further explained that today was payday, and the stolen funds were meant to be distributed among the staff as salaries. The robbers entered the very office where the cash was being kept.
The Edhi Foundation has raised suspicions that a current or former employee may have been involved in the heist, possibly tipping off the gang about the cash transfer. Police officials have confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been launched.
