Police seized a large cache of unlicensed weapons and arrested a man in the limits of Chamkani Police Station on Wednesday foiling an attempt to smuggle them to Punjab.
Police told reporters that five Kalashnikovs, 10 rifles, 15 pistols, 65 magazines and thousands of different bore cartridges seized during the operation. The arrested accused belongs to the outskirts of Peshawar and was trying to smuggle a large consignment of illegal arms through a Honda motor car. A vehicle used in arms smuggling has been seized and case has been registered against the accused.
Police said that on the identification of arrested accused some other people have been booked for investigation.
