Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s 21-day “AwamiTheater Festival is in full swing

21-day “AwamiTheater Festival” organized by Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi is currently underway with great success. For the first time in the history of the festival, audiences stood to watch the drama performances due to the overwhelming response. On Saturdays and Sundays, two shows were hostper day.
On the 16th day of the festival, AftabKamdar’s first show “DharayJaDhadaka” in the Memoni language and RaufLala’s second show “Biwi, BatwaAurBatwara” in Urdu were performed. The cast of “DharayJaDhadaka” included Salomi, NazarHussain, ShahbazSanam, RaufLala, Sapna Ghazal, Abdullah Lala, Shahnila Qureshi, RaufAlam, Nasira Noor, HussainRathore, TalhaBhujani, AamirHokla, JunaidMemon, Z.A. Mitho, and ShahidaMurtaza, who all showcased remarkable performances. The play depicted the story of a small family, exploring the complex dynamics between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, and the inevitable cycle of actions and consequences. It illustrated the importance of respecting elders and maintaining harmony in family relationships.
The second show, “Biwi, BatwaAurBatwara,” was directed by RaufLala, and the audience turnout was so high that many had to stand to watch. The cast included RaufLala, Shanzeh, Wali Sheikh, Sapna Qureshi, Aamir Rambo, Eram, Abdullah Lala, Zohaib Amir, and Shehzad. The drama revolved around a middle-class family where a small argument splits the household, eventually showing the consequences of conflict and the efforts to reconcile relationships.
It emphasized the importance of preserving family ties and respecting loved ones, highlighting that conflicts should not lead to separation or divorce.On the 17th day of the festival, Ali Roshan’s Sindhi drama “Na Farman” and NazarHussain’s “Misaq-e-Mohabbat” were staged.
“Na Farman” told the story of a rebellious son who, in a bid to sell his retired father’s property, faces a tragic end after being manipulated by his wife. “Misaq-e-Mohabbat,” a light-hearted family comedy, depicted the story of a man who sacrificed his life for his family’s well-being and was later forgotten after his retirement. His journey toward reconciling with his loved ones brought out the importance of family bonds and mutual respect.
The performances were highly appreciated by the audience, and the festival continues to attract theater lovers, with the artists’ exceptional performances garnering praise.
