ISLAMABAD
Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad granted bail to former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi in Judicial Complex vandalism case.
The bail petition of Pervaiz Elahi came before Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain of ATC Islamabad Friday.
Babar Awan, Sardar Abdul Razzaq, counsels for Pervaiz Elahi and prosecutor Raja Navid appeared in the court.
The prosecutor told the court the record will reach a bit late.
The judge remarked this is not the way. Court has started proceedings and record has not reached. Start the arguments.
Counsel Babar Awan while requesting the court to accept bail plea took the plea Pervaiz Elahi is not nominated in the case. He has been arrested on the basis of suspicion.
The prosecution while opposing the bail plea said FIR has been registered under non-bailable sections. Pervaiz Elahi was arrested on the information of informer.
Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain while accepting bail plea remarked Pervaiz Elahi is not nominated in FIR.
The court directed to file surety bonds worth Rs 20000.
The court had sent Pervaiz Elahi to jail on September 8 on 14 days judicial remand.
Judicial complex vandalism case was registered against Pervaiz Elahi on March 18 in police station Ramna.
