Aimed to impart knowledge of demerits of utilizing of polythene bags, an awareness walk was carried out in main bazaar of Landi Kotal on Saturday.
Assistant Commissioner, Landi Kotal Muhammad Imran, office bearers of Anjuman-e-Tejeraan Landi Kotal, local traders, tribal elders and members of civil society were among the participants of the walk. Speaking on the occasion AC,Landi Kotal said that on the strict direction of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other highups,anti-polythene shopping bags drive had been launched in the area and conducting of awareness walk was part of it to inform the general masses of drawbacks using of the shopping bags.
“The commodity not only a health hazard but also has polluted our environment”, he saying and urged the shopkeepers to start utilizing biodegradable shopping bags to assist them to make human friendly environment.
He warned that as banned had been imposed on polythene bags, those who would violate the law would be dealt accordingly.
Earlier, AC, Landi Kotal raided on various shops in the bazaar and took away polythene bags of it.
