Mithi: An awareness walk on stroke prevention was organized in Mithi to educate the public about the risks, symptoms, and timely treatment of the disease. Speaking on the occasion, Neurologist Dr. Jai Singh Rana emphasized that, like other countries Pakistan observes awareness days for various diseases to inform people and promote preventive measures. Dr. JaiSingh highlighted that strokes are increasingly common, with statistics showing that one in four people is at risk. He explained the key warning signs of a stroke, including sudden vision loss, facial drooping, weakness in any part of the body, and difficulty speaking. He stressed that immediate medical attention is critical: a patient must be taken to an emergency hospital within three to four hours of symptom onset to receive life-saving treatment and injections that can prevent permanent disability. Dr. JaiSingh further noted that uncontrolled blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol, smoking, and air pollution are major risk factors for stroke.
