Azadi Sports Festival: Peshawar Region win Kabaddi Challenge Cup

The Peshawar Region clinched the Kabaddi Challenge Cup held as part of the Independence Day Sports Festival organised by the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a thrilling final, Peshawar Region defeated Lakki Marwat 50-44 to lift the trophy.
The final, played at Peshawar Sports Complex, witnessed an exciting contest as players from both sides displayed excellent skills. Superb raids and strong defensive play kept the match highly competitive, while thousands of spectators at the ground cheered passionately for their respective teams.
At the end of the match, Peshawar Region secured victory with 50 points, while Lakki Marwat finished runners-up with 44 points.
Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, the chief guest, distributed the trophy and prizes among the victorious players. Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tashfeen Haider, Provincial Kabaddi Association President Arbab Naseer, General Secretary Sultan Bari and other sports personalities were also present.
Addressing the ceremony, Advisor Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand congratulated both teams for their impressive performance. He said that organising sports activities on Independence Day helps promote patriotism, positive thinking and healthy activities among young people. He added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was taking comprehensive measures to promote sports and provide better opportunities to young athletes.
Grand Independence Day Badminton Tournament Held in Peshawar
Peshawar (Sports Reporter) The Independence Day Badminton Tournament was held in Peshawar as part of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations, in collaboration between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Badminton Association and coaches of the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Players displayed great enthusiasm and competitive spirit throughout the event.
At the final ceremony, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tashfeen Haider cut the cake to formally mark the Independence Day celebrations. Director Development Munir Abbas, AD Sports Shakoor Khan, badminton coaches Hayatullah, Nadeem Khan and Bushra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Badminton Association Secretary General Mian Sadaqat Shah, Deputy Secretary General Muhammad Masood and other prominent personalities were also present.
In the boys’ final, the pair of Abdul Haseeb Khan and Tamheed produced an excellent performance to defeat Rayan and Aqib and claim the Independence Championship trophy. In the girls’ final, Abira put up an impressive performance to defeat Ambreen and win the Independence Championship trophy.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tashfeen Haider said that organising sports competitions on Independence Day was an excellent way to promote patriotism, unity, discipline and positive activities among young people. He also congratulated the players for their outstanding performances.
