Babar Azam’s Test form has been abysmal this year, he has scored 163 runs at an average of just 20.38 in his last 8 innings including the Melbourne Test, not including a single fifty.
This is the first time in his Test career that he has failed to score a single half-century in a calendar year.
In the Karachi Test against New Zealand, Babar played innings of 24 and 27, during the Galle Test against Sri Lanka, he scored 13 runs in the first innings and 24 runs in the second, played a single innings in Colombo and scored 39 runs. In the first innings of the Perth Test, Babar Azam scored 21 runs and fell victim to Alex Carey off the ball of Mitchell Marsh, while in the second innings, he was dismissed for just 14 runs off the ball of Pat Cummins.
