Pakistan men’s cricket team captain Babar Azam has broken yet another record that previously belonged to Australia’s former captain Rickey Ponting for 16 years.
Previously, Rickey Ponting was the only player in world cricket who remained on top of both T20I and ODI batters’ ranking at the end of a calendar year, which was 2005.
Babar Azam, however has broken the record and is the number one player in both ICC men’s T20I and ODI rankings at the end of 2021.
2021 has been a wonderful year for Pakistan cricket, as well as players themselves. Babar Azam not only was declared player of the year but also remained top scorer in inaugural T20I world cup recently concluded in UAE.
Pakistan’s wicket keeper batsman Muhammad Rizwan bagged 2000 T20I runs in 2021, and hence the record of scoring most T20I runs in a calendar year.
