Basketball competition enters second round

Under-21 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Games basketball competition has entered the second phase with Lower Chitral beat Upper Chitral by 24-14, Bajaur beat Bannu by 61-57, Dera Ismail Khan beat Upper Kohistan by 36-33, Peshawar beat Orakzai by 39-12 and Upper Chitral defeated Khyber by 60-58 after a nerve-wracking match.
Nowshera beat Mohmand 30-16, Tank beat Batgram by 45-36. After a thrilling contest, Haripur was knocked out of the event by 56-50 in extra time when Dir Upper recorded victory.
The quarter-final match between Dir Upper provided great thrill soon after Dir Upper defeated Dir Lower and in the quarter-final Dir Upper registered victory against strong Haripur in a marathon 56-50 points battle.
The match was also witnessed by Secretary Sports KP Abid Majeed, Director General Sports KP Asfandyar Khan Khattak, District Sports Officer Tehseen Ullah, DSO Dir Upper Mukhtiar Hussain and DSO Swat Kashif Farhan.
Dir Upper was a strong team come up to the semi-final of the Championship before defeating both Dir Lower and Haripur in the pre-quarters and quarter-finals. Mohsin, Israr, Shahjehan Khan and Moeen Ullah played well and recorded their points in crucial time. Haripur was leading the two quarters of 10m each but later on Dir Upper came back and first tied the third quarter and later on raced up victory in the fourth quarters at 56-50.
