PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali has said that all available resources would be utilized to equip government-run schools of the province with modern facilities, saying provision of free textbooks for students enrolled in public sector schools would be ensured.
A delegation led by the members of provincial caretaker setup Hamid Shah and Rehmat Salam Khattak called on Governor Haji Ghulam Ali here on Monday. Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Mutasim Billah, Chairman Textbook Board Saqlain Gilani, Project Director Human Capital Investment Project Hashmat Ali were also present on this occasion.
Advisor to the Chief Minister for Primary and Secondary Education apprised the Governor about other educational facilities including the printing of educational syllabus, provision of books to male and female students and upgrading of educational institutions in the province.
The officials of the Education Department apprised Haji Ghulam Ali that the provincial government has spent more than Rs10 billion on the provision of free textbooks to students of the public sector school in KP.
The governor said that provision of better education facilities to children was the prime responsibility of the provincial government and all relevant authorities should play their role in removing difficulties to access quality education to all children.
He said that efforts should be made to enroll as many children as possible in schools and parents, leaders and social workers also have to play their role. The role of education has always been fundamental in the rise and fall of nations, he added and said that special measures need to be taken to ensure provision of modern quality education to children.
Ghulam Ali maintained that along with education in educational institutions, special attention should be paid to training according to the principles of Islam so that decency, values and traditions can be promoted in their lives so that these children become good citizens and play a better role in the development and prosperity of the society.
Separately, Secretary Sports Department Captain (R) Mushtaq Hussain also met the governor at the Governor House and discussed issues related to the performance of the department.
Secretary Sports apprised Ghulam Ali that the department has organized for the first time inter-schools games for the students of madras’s.
The officials also requested KP Governor to allow the department to organize award giving ceremony at the Governor House Peshawar which he accorded approval.
The Governor appreciated the organization of games for students of madrasas and said that the children of madrasas are also our own children and he wishes that their children should also be encouraged and on July 5 these children will not only be invited to the Governor’s House, but they will also be awarded prizes.
Meanwhile, elected local government representatives from different areas of the province, along with political, social personalities and business representatives also met the Governor Haji Ghulam Ali at the Governor House, discussed various issues and congratulated the Governor on Eid.
