PESHAWAR
Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has lauded the sacrifices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in the war against terrorism, saying enemies took advantage of “ our internal quarrelling”.
He said this while addressing the Peshawar High Court Bar here on Thursday.
Bilawal Bhutto strongly condemned the terror attack in Dera Ismail Khan and said that the enemy takes advantage of our internal quarrelling.
“We might differ over the economic or security policies but we have to put them aside and unitedly combat the challenges we face,” he said.
He expressed concern over the spike in terrorism that had earlier been eradicated through joint efforts.
“A government released terrorists from prison without taking the Parliament or the people in the loop. They were also released from the prisons in Afghanistan and invited them to settle in the tribal areas of Pakistan, where the people had already suffered innumerable losses due to terrorism,” Bilawal claimed.
We believe that the people and martyrs of APS should be told how and by whom their sacrifices were rendered vain, Bilawal said and added that hearing of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s Presidential Reference at the Supreme Court yesterday, and he is grateful to Justice Qazi Faez Isa and his brother judges.
“We want for this reference to bring an improvement in the democratic system of the country, and history is corrected while the facilitators involved are exposed,” he said.
This is an opportunity for the judiciary and the democratic system to allow the country to progress. The ruling of this judicial murder is never quoted as a precedent.
A dictator had his decision imposed which resulted in Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the very founder of the Constitution who gifted this country with atomic power, gave ownership to farmers and the labourers their rights, united the Muslim Ummah in Lahore and acted as a voice for the poor, being murdered, he said.
Bilawal said that the dictator of the time, General Zia was the perpetrator in this murder and the very judges who had sworn to provide justice acted as facilitators in this case, in connivance with the lawyers and politicians of the time.
“Henry Kissinger had said that ‘We will make a horrible example out of you’, but could not hinder Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s relentless pursuit to make this country a great nation,” he said.
Shah Faisal and Yasser Arafat took an oath from Zia ul Haq in the Holy Ka’bah to not end Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s life.
Chairman PPP said that those from the PML-N and PTI would mock our slogan of ‘Zinda Hai Bhutto Zinda Hai’ but Quaid-e-Awam is the one who sacrificed his life but did not compromise on the future of the nation.
Bilawal said that when a particular politician mentions that they eradicated load-shedding, those from the downtrodden regions wonder what Pakistan is being talked about.
Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was the first to help the labourers attain their rights, and we can do the same for them in 2024. “We have begun a pilot programme in Sindh, the ‘Benazir Mazdoor Card’, which we wish to extend to the rest of the country”, Chairman Bilawal said.
The purpose of the card is to provide health and educational facilities as well as pension to the labourers through the card, so that it can benefit all the hard-working people of the country, regardless of them being from the private or public sector.
Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had introduced the ‘5 Marla Scheme’ and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto gifted the ‘7 Marla Scheme’ to the people and we are following their footsteps by building two million homes for the flood victims in Sindh and empowering the women by giving them the ownership.
If this can happen in one province of the country, then it can be made a reality for the rest of the nation too. In Larkana, we have built permanent homes for the poor in a prime location which gave them financial security.
Chairman Bilawal said that everyone should have access to healthcare and affordability should not be a factor in determining whether one gets to live or not.
