Health dept improving service delivery in merged districts: Hisham

Provincial Health Minister, Dr Hasham Inamullah Wednesday said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has honoured yet another of its promises by establishing second Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit in Swat.
The Chief Minister had promised establishment of the burn unit with the people and today this promise has been fulfilled as a state-of-the-art plastic surgery and burn unit has been established in Swat, he said.
The Health Minister further said that all contemporary medical facilities are available at Saidu Hospital where the number of beds have been increased to 500. The facelift of Saidu Hospital, he said cost a hefty amount of 3billion rupees.
Medical facilities including modern ICU, CCU, Cardiology Unit and Cath Lab facilities, he said adding now people from Swat, Hazara, Kohistan and Battagram has not to visit Peshawar for treatment of ailments.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health Dr. Hisham Inamullah Khan has said that health department is posting new district health officers and medical superintendents to improve service delivery in merged districts.
He said doctors with good reputation and vast experience would be posted there which will improve health care system in the tribal districts.
This, he said while chairing placement committee meeting for the appointment of DHOs and medical superintendents here on Wednesday.
Special Secretary Health Dr. Farooq Jameel, Director General Health Services Dr Arshad Khan, and Director Health Services Merged Districts Dr. Faisal Khan also attended the committee meeting.
The Minister said important projects in health sector of merged districts include a project of over 300 portable ultrasound machines, upgrading of hospitals and basic health units in all districts, 12 beds intensive care units at district level consisting of 6 beds each for medical and Neonatal ICU and trauma and emergency centers of level 2 in every district.
He stated that doctors had been appointed in districts of their domicile as per placement policy to overcome shortage of doctors in these districts.
To attract doctors to serve in merged districts, he said specialists doctors were offered Rs.450,000, medical officers Rs.200,000, emergency medical doctors Rs.300,000, and paramedics and nurses would receive monthly salary up to Rs.80,000.
