Advisor to CM says a comprehensive strategy has been devised against the elements in extortion and kidnapping across the province

Advisor to Chief Minister on Home and Tribal Affairs Babar Saleem on Saturday said that the provincial government is committed for the safety of trader’s community, saying police and relevant departments are taking effective steps to tackle the rising incidents of extortions in the province.
He said that all available sources should be utilized to make proper arrangements for the business community’s security.
Babir Saleem Swati expressed the views during a special meeting with the business community on the issue of extortion calls to them.
KP Assembly members Malik Wajid, Arbab Waseem, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Aijaz Khan, SSP Operations and high-ups of the relevant departments attended the meeting. The forum was briefed on the overall security situation of the province and rising incidents of extortion calls to the business community.
CCPO Peshawar on this occasion said that a comprehensive strategy has been devised to bust groups involved in extortion calls to businessmen.
He assured traders of protection and urged them to cooperate with the police in its actions against anti-social elements.
Police are working undercover against groups involved in extortion and terrorism, CCPO said and maintained that very soon many groups operating against the businessmen would be apprehended as operations have been intensified against them.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier a day, businessmen affiliated with the ruling party in KP wrote a letter to the PTI chairman regarding rising incidents of extortion.
It has been reported that businessmen of the province have demanded protection from the terrorist groups. They wrote to the PTI chief to intervene in the issue as the provincial government was taking no practical step in this regard.
