Federal cabinet will meet today (Friday) under the Prime Minister (PM) Shebaz Sharif to accord approval to the federal budget for the next financial year of 2023-24.
The meeting will take place in parliament house. Finance Minister (FM) Ishaq Dar along with his economic team will give detailed briefing in the meeting on the salient features of budget.
The final decision about enhancement in pay and pension of government employees will be taken and approval thereof will be accorded in this meeting. Multiple proposals on this count will come under discussion in the meeting.
The allied parties have given proposal for increasing the pay and pension by 30 percent. However finance ministry is in favor of enhancing pay and pension of government employees from 15 to 20 percent. Final decision will be taken on this matter by the cabinet.
The proposal is there that pay and pension of government employees of grade 1 to 16 be increased by 30 percent and employees of grade 17 to 22 by 20 percent.
Cabinet will also decide about the minimum wages of worker and other targets.
