Cabinet should decide on blasphemous caricatures matter keeping in view people sentiments: IHC

ISLAMABAD : Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered to place the matter of snapping diplomatic ties with France before federal cabinet has disposed of the petition in connection with blasphemous caricatures.
The petition seeking severing diplomatic ties with France at government level came up for hearing before IHC bench led y Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani on Wednesday.

The petition was filed by a citizen.

Tariq Asad advocate counsel for Shuhada Foundation (SF) appeared before the court taking the plea Turkey, Qatar and several other Muslim countries have voiced strong protest over publication of blasphemous caricatures in France. But here no representation of the public sentiments was made on this issue.

The learned judge Moshin Akhtar Kayani remarked government of Pakistan has condemned this incident. French ambassador was also summoned by the government and a resolution has also been adopted in National Assembly (NA). Passage of resolution in the parliament is representation of public sentiments.

The court while ordering to put up the matter of publication of blasphemous caricatures disposed of the petition.
The court also ordered that the cabinet should decide this matter keeping in view sentiments of the people.
