Case registered against senior journalist Mohsin Jamil Baig in Karachi challenged in SHC


The senior journalist Mohsin Jamil Baig has challenged in Sindh High Court (SHC) the case registered against him by FIA In Karachi.

Mohsin JAMIL Baig has filed petition in SHC through his counsel Latif Khosa advocate.

Latif Khosa prayed the court FIA be restrained from launching any action against Mohsin Jamil Baig till next hearing,.

The court inquired from Latif Khosa where is petitioner now,.

Latif Khosa replied he is in Adiala jail now.

Justice Muhammad Iqbal remarked the accused is in jail what can be bigger action than this.

Justice Muhammad Iqbal remarked “ we will decide the case after hearing it on Friday.

Latif Khosa advocate told the court two cases were registered and in one case he has been granted bail. One case was registered in Lahore on the same day and one was registered in Karachi.

Case was registered against Mohsin Jamil Baig in FIA Cyber Crime Circle under money laundering and other clauses. The action is being taken due to one statement of Mohsin Jamil Baig. Raid was conducted at his home under the directives of the federal government. Threat was given to file reference against the judge who had declared the raid illegal. Islamabad High Court has prevented FIA from arresting under PECA amendment ordinance. It is not known Islamabad High Court decision is applied in Sindh or otherwise.

The counsel for the petitioner said Mohsin Jamil Baig only discharged his obligation as journalist. Mohsin Jamil merely said this to a question about the performance of Murad Saeed that it is written in Reeham Khan book.

The court issued notices to FIA, Federal government and others on Mohsin Jamil Baig petition.

The court has sought reply from the respondents on March 4.

The court also directed the respondents to present all the evidence on next hearing.
