Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs) on Thursday approved several key appointments and policy matters related to state-owned enterprises during a meeting held at the Finance Division. The meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and attended by Maritime Affairs Minister Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, along with senior officials from relevant ministries and regulatory bodies. The committee approved a summary from the Railways Division regarding the appointment of four independent and three ex-officio members to the Board of Directors of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the Thar Coal Rail Connectivity Project, a joint initiative with the Government of Sindh. The nominations had already been vetted by the Board Nomination Committee and approved by the Prime Minister. The CCoSOEs also approved the winding up of Sarmaya-e Pakistan Limited (SPL), citing redundancy in light of recent changes in the governance framework for state-owned enterprises. Online
