PESHAWAR
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad has directed police officials to further intensify action against street criminals, land grabbers, extortionists, drug dealers, proclaimed offenders and other elements involved in criminal activities.
He issued the directives while chairing a police performance review meeting at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines on Wednesday, where the performance of police officers and progress on various tasks were reviewed in detail.
The meeting reviewed measures against street crime, robberies, criminal gangs, habitual offenders, snatchers, ice dealers, illegal display of weapons, aerial firing and other social evils, besides steps taken to maintain law and order.
The CCPO said protection of life and property, timely provision of justice and resolution of citizens’ problems were the foremost responsibilities of the Peshawar police. He directed officers to make honesty, integrity, a sense of duty and public service the core of their professional responsibilities.
He instructed officers to give priority to the grievances of widows, orphans, vulnerable people and deserving applicants, and ensure that all pending tasks and applications were disposed of within the stipulated period on merit and with transparency.
Dr Saeed said officers and personnel demonstrating honesty, dedication and outstanding performance would be encouraged and appreciated at every level.
He also ordered indiscriminate action against elements involved in street crime, land grabbing, extortion, drug trafficking, usury, hooliganism and other offences, as well as those displaying weapons, resorting to aerial firing or using social media to intimidate others.
The CCPO further directed police officers to accelerate efforts for the arrest of proclaimed offenders and habitual criminals, particularly those repeatedly involved in criminal activities.
He said regular monthly meetings would be held with members of Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs) and Police Liaison Committees (PLCs) to remain informed about public grievances and ensure their timely resolution.
SSP Operations Farhan Khan, SP Investigation Dr Sami Malik, DPO Khyber Waqar Ahmad, Cantonment Commandant Mujibur Rehman, divisional SPs, SDPOs and SHOs attended the meeting.
