Chairman NAB to give in camera briefing to PAC on January 06


Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal appeared before Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The PAC met under its chairman Rana Tanvir Hussain Tuesday.

NAB chairman appeared before the PAC after having been served notice twice.

Chairman PAC Rana Tanvir Hussain said “ you tell about your performance in the news paper. If you tell your performance in parliament then it is far better. It will bring more honor to you if you come in the parliament.

Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal while talking in the meeting said “ I could not come to PAC due to certain just reasons. I am not Mughal emperor that I would not appear in parliamentary committees. I will continue to come to committees.

Chairman committee said you had once said that you would come through video link.

The chairman PAC asked from chairman NAB how much recovery has been made from whom. NAB has taken good step in fraud cases against double shah, fake housing societies and vehicles.

Chairman NAB said NAB had distributed billion of rupees among 30000 people which were sunk in housing schemes. NAB has played vital role in all scandals including Mazarba, vehicles, motorcycles and land.

He held “ hold an in-camera briefing. Every thing will be presented.

Chairman NAB said he is ready to render account of every pie. NAB file 120 references at the behest of PAC. 1270 references of Rs 1385 billion are pending hearing in the courts. 25000 cases are pending.
Give me an opportunity, If I could not satisfy the committee I would return to home, he added.

Due to PAC 120 references were filed, he pointed out. Rs 168 billion were involved in these references. This all credit goes to NAB.

He stated that salaries of most of the departments have been increased but NAB employees salaries have not been revised since the last 18 years.

Chairman PAC Rana Tanvir said we have heard NAB stance on the issue of increase in salaries. We have no objection.

Chairman PAC said that a detailed in camera briefing will be given. Chairman NAB will give in camera briefing to PAC on January 06.
