Chairman Senate has rejected government stance on Dawn leaks. Speaking in Senate opposition leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said both the parties to Dawn leaks should appear before Senate. No one including Prime Minister and army chief is above the parliament. Such persons were made scapegoat in Dawn leaks who were not present in the meeting. If anything was said in the meeting and it found way into Dawn then it was leak. Someone has leaked it. Whether news item which was published in Dawn was correct or wrong but it was against armed forces in both ways.
Ministers know nothing about it. Dawn leaks matter has been settled, he said. How it was settled beyond parliament, we don’t accept it, he added. Senator Aftab Sheikh said leakage of news from the meeting between Prime Minister and Army chief is a serious matter. But certain circles were indicating that differences between government and army have widened. All the institutions have come to know that they have to work within legal and constitutional parameters. The settlement of matter over Dawn leaks has fortified democracy. Democracy has flourished. This is a part of history and it cannot be distorted. Chairman said he was not satisfied with Sheikh Aftab and he would talk to both leader of the house and leader of the opposition.
