Chief Collector of Customs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Saleem on Friday paid a visit to Azakhil Dry Port and inspected management of newly established the port.
Speaking to reports on this occasion, Chief Collector KP said that vision of the port to provide a modern port facilities to traders , adding that the main purpose of the Customs is to determine taxes values and duties imposed on goods.
He said that at present there is a capacity to keep up to 1000 containers in Azakhel Dry Port which will be increased in future.
From 2021, industrial cargo has also been included here, which has been handled very well by the customs staff, he added and said that necessary arrangements for business community facilitation.
Mohammad Saleem shared that the railway authorities have also been taken on the board for smooth operations of the port.
He maintained that earlier industrial cargo used to be cleared in Karachi , but this is the first time that such a large number of industrial cargo has arrived in the Azakhel Port.
In response to a question, the Chief Collector said that we have to ensure that the cargo that has come for merged areas and and PATA obtain smooth and timely clearance from the port.
