Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Syed Shahab Ali Shah, paid an official visit to Kohat today, marking a renewed commitment to service delivery, good governance, and sustainable development in the southern districts of the province. The visit commenced with a high-level meeting held at the Commissioner’s Office, Kohat, attended by senior officials including Acting IGP Mr. Muhammad Ali Baba Khel, Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah, Regional Police Officer, Deputy Commissioners, District Police Officers among others. Officials from certain districts also participated via video link.
The meeting reviewed in detail the overall security situation, development progress, and public service delivery mechanisms across the division, with a particular focus on the sensitive districts of Kurram and Orakzai. Performance reports presented by the district administrations and police highlighted both challenges and achievements, reflecting the ongoing efforts to improve governance and restore normalcy in the region.
Addressing the participants, Chief Secretary Syed Shahab Ali Shah reiterated the provincial government’s unwavering commitment to public welfare. He emphasized that public service, maintenance of law and order, and expeditious development remain the topmost priorities of the government. He stated:
“No individual or group will be allowed to obstruct the course of public service or development. Concrete actions are being taken at all administrative levels, and no negligence will be tolerated.”
The Chief Secretary directed all district administrations to enhance public outreach initiatives, including regular open forums and public liaison mechanisms, to ensure that the voices and grievances of citizens are heard and addressed promptly. He further emphasized that the future of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lies in transparent governance, active public engagement, and integrated development planning.
Highlighting the strategic importance of Kohat and its neighboring districts, the Chief Secretary noted that peacebuilding, provision of essential services, and timely execution of development schemes in the districts of Kurram, Orakzai, Hangu, and Karak are key focus areas. He lauded the efforts of law enforcement agencies and civil administration in restoring peace in areas previously affected by instability and stressed the need for continued inter-agency coordination to consolidate these gains.
The visit is viewed as a significant development and a reflection of the government’s proactive approach. The decisions taken and strategies outlined during the meeting are expected to serve as milestones in the socio-economic uplift of the region.
