China has warned the Philippines not to “misjudge” the situation in the South Seas and not to do something that would only make it suffer the consequences.
According to the World News Agency, this threat from China was given by Foreign Minister Wang Yi to his Philippine counterpart on the telephone.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Philippine counterpart that being neighbors, we should discuss any conflict that may arise and I think that handling the current maritime situation is the most important task at this time.
He also warned his Philippine counterpart that if you misjudge the maritime situation or unintentionally collude with external forces, China will respond strongly in self-defense.
Wang Yi added that the serious difficulties in the bilateral relations between China and the Philippines were caused by the Philippines changing its policy and reneging on its commitments.
Chinese foreign minister also advised the Philippines to change its policy and “return to the right track” as soon as possible.
