Islamabad: H.E. Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad today. During the meeting, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the enduring all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China, highlighting deep mutual trust, ironclad friendship, and shared support on core interests. He also conveyed warm greetings to President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and the Chinese leadership and people on the occasion of the Chinese New Year. PM Shehbaz appreciated China’s consistent support to Pakistan in economic, security, and developmental sectors, particularly through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), describing it as a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative. He emphasized the need to accelerate ongoing CPEC projects and expand cooperation in agriculture, IT, and mining & minerals. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for Chinese personnel, investments, and institutions. Ambassador Jiang briefed the Prime Minister on recent developments in China-Pakistan relations and conveyed greetings from the Chinese leadership.
