Chinese company offers to invest in KP

PESHAWAR: China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) Limited has offered to invest in various development schemes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and it will soon sign a number of agreements with the provincial government for execution of various projects.
According to a statement, the offer was announced during a meeting between Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and CRCC vice-president LIU Ruchen.
It was stated that LIU Ruchen was leading a high-level Chinese delegation comprising heads of various subsidiaries of CRCC, while Shahab Ali Shah, who is
also the KP’s focal person for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, secretary C&W Mohammad Asif, secretary finance Ali Raza, secretary to CM Mohammad Israr and heads of various provincial government organisations, including KPOGCL, were also present on the occasion.
Welcoming the Chinese guests, the chief minister said that the execution of CPEC-related projects and Chinese investment would cement the friendship and strong relations between the two nations.
He briefed the delegation about the investment opportunities in various sectors, including 10 hydropower projects of cumulative capacity of 2,159MW.
These projects, MrKhattak said, included KarnelSher Khan International Airport and circular railway along with shuttle connectivity and Gilgit-Mardan railway line, Shandur-Chitral-Chakdara-Mardan restricted access road, Connecting Khwazakhela, Swat, with the Karakoram Highway through Shangla, Peshawar-DI Khan highway upgradation and dualisation of Mardan-Swabi road besides Kohat refinery and oil and gas sector projects.
The Chinese delegation said that KP was not only the main province adjacent to China, but the first stopover on the CPEC and opening both to the Central Asian countries and South Asia.
They said that it was their first priority to invest in KP.
The delegation briefed the chief minister about their experts and capacities in designing, construction, investment, execution and management of various sectors.
