Mithi: The social activists and civil society members of Mithi have formed a ‘Shahri Ettehad’ (Citizens’ Alliance) to strive for resolving the problems of local nature and boost up the developmental initiatives along with getting allocated proper funds for the same by the concerned authorities.
Announcing the formation of alliance on Saturday, member core committee Mr. Krishan Sharma told the newsmen that the citizens of Mithi, the headquarter town of Tharparkar district, are faced with several issues and are also deprived of basic facilities and infrastructure. “The funds granted by the government are either misused or misappropriated, which were meant to benefit the local communities,” he said.
Sharma released to the media a 10-point Charter of Demands and said the alliance in its meeting unanimously passed a resolution and urged authorities to take necessary actions. The demands are.
Removal of the SHO of Mithi who is alleged of misbehaving people and asking for bribe. Forum rejects the NIT of taluka council done in the month June 2020. All the necessary measures should be taken by authorities to conduct city survey of Mithi. Provision of potable water should be ensured timely and transparently. Meanwhile, district authorities should take actions against tanker mafia who are engaged in water business. Students coming from villages are not having residence facilities while available hostels of high school and college need to renovate and make secure for accommodation. DC office should permit locals to enter in office premises for routine dealings following the SOPs. Forum urges authorities for making operational the cadet college at Mithi, which has been constructed years back. Civil hospital of Mithi should be equipped properly and make capable enough to benefit localsCitizens urge the HESCO chief for minimizing the load-shedding time and provision of desired voltage of electricity. Cattle markets should be reopened as authorities have shut off due to COVID-19 situation as these markets are main livelihood source.
A committee was also constituted to focus on above charter of demands and take necessary steps for its attainments, which comprises of Krishan Sharma, Subhan Samejo, Kishore Kumar, Ghansham Malhi, Tulsi Balani, Mama Vishan, Obhayo Junejo, Aziz ullah Sand and Vikram Das. In addition to this a group of lawyers’ forum of Adv. Sajjad Chandio announced its legal assistance to the citizens. Adv. Bharat Khemani, Adv Rai Singh Sodho, Adv. Vasand Thari, Adv. Kanwar Amar, Hajiani Ashiq Bajeer and Rajesh Hirani will extend legal assistance to the Citizens’ Alliance for its just struggle.
