Civil society role in electoral process, voting emphasized

Joint Provincial Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Javed Rehmat, has emphasized upon the civil society to inform the public about the importance of voting and the electoral process in view of upcoming general elections in the country.
He made these remarks while addressing an awareness session organized by the Blue Vans regarding the participation of minority women in the general elections in Peshawar.
Director Elections Asif Ali Yasin, Deputy Director Media Co-ordination Sohail Ahmed, Assistant Director Gender and Social Inclusion Uroba Ali and Aliza Mahfooz of Blue Vans participated in the voter awareness session.
Arooba Ali of Blue Vans welcomed the Election Commission team and briefed the participants about the objectives of the session.
The Deputy Director Media Co-Ordination has reviewed the electoral process, importance of vote, formation of ECP, constitutional and legal framework and measures to be taken for inclusive and credible elections.
The session also reviewed relevant election laws regarding minority communities and deprived classes and detailed presentation on the measures taken by the election watchdog was given to the participants.
The participants took keen interest in the session and asked many relevant questions which were answered by Director Elections Asif Ali Yasin.
Apart from this, several women representatives shared their experience and offered some suggestions to increase the turnout in the next general elections.
