Chief Justice (CJ) Islamabad High Court (IHC) visited Central Jail Adiala Rawalpindi Saturday, checked the record of prisoners, listened to their complaints and issued immediate orders for addressing the problems facing the prisoners.
IG Jails and DIG jail gave detailed briefing to the judges on all the matters. The authorities could not give satisfactory replies to different questions asked by the judges with reference to problems.
CJ IHC Athar Minallah along with Justice Mohsin Kayani, justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, district and sessions judge Islamabad East and west reached the Adiala jail. Special secretary home department, secretary human rights and other authorities also accompanied them.
CJ IHC visited Adiala jail on the request of a prisoner in the perspective of growing incidents of violence against the prisoners.
The CJ IHC reviewed the record of strength of prisoners in the jail, their facilities, complaints regarding jail and implementation of their rights .
The CJ IHC visited female prisoners barrack and different barracks of prisoners in jail and heard the problems facing the prisoners during his talk with them.
The CJ issued orders for resolution of problems facing the prisoners on the spot. He stressed on implementation of rights of the prisoners.
