LAHORE
Chief Justice (CJ) Lahore High Court (LHC) Aalia Neelum has constituted new larger bench on the petition filed against suspension of section -3 of detention law.
Five members larger bench will hear the case on June 19. CJ Aalia Neelum will preside over the bench. The other members of bench are Justice Chaudhry Iqbal, Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry, Justice Farooq Haider and justice Amjid Rafiq. Earlier former larger bench was dissolved after Justice Khalid Ishaq had recused from hearing the case. LHC Single bench had suspended section 3 of detention law which has been challenged by Punjab gov’t.
The court summoned lawyers of all respondents for arguments on next hearing.
This case is being considered an important legal movement forward with reference to balance between basic rights and government powers.
