CJ LHC gives 15 days time to Punjab Police to recover missing women in the province

Chief Justice (CJ) Lahore High Court (LHC) Aalia Neelum has directed police to recover missing women in all over Punjab within 15 days.
The petition regarding recovery of a girl who had allegedly gone missing 4 years before came up for hearing before CJ LHC Aalia Neelum .
The hearing took place on the plea of one Salma Bibi who has resorted to LHC for recovery of her daughter Muqaddas Bibi.
DIG Investigation appeared in the court on the occasion.
During the hearing of the case the court ordered directives be issued to all officers of Punjab police to take immediate and effective steps for recovery of missing women.
According to police report cases regarding 3252 missing women were registered from 2021 to April 2026 in all over the province. 1405 women have been recovered while 1853 women are still missing.
The CJ LHC inquired how much time will be required for recovery of remaining missing women.
Upon it DIG Investigation Shoaib Khurram sought two months time .
The CJ LHC while expressing resentment over it remarked you had time 6 years before. Was it less time. This is incompetence of police department.
The court inquired about protection of recovered women.
Upon it DIG told the court all the girls are safe. Some one have contracted love marriages.
Some among them have returned to their homes. According to police about 80 percent girls have contracted love marriage.
The CJ IHC while expressing concern said nothing is known about plight of the women who are still missing. And this is grave matter. Is any system in place for collecting any effective data in respect of cases related to missing women or otherwise.
Upon it DIG told the court teams are collecting data in this regard.
The CJ LHC directed a regular and effective mechanism be worked out in respect of such cases so that the investigations could be moved forward in effective way.
