CJP sets up Judicial Automation Committee to bring innovation to judicial system

In order to bring innovation to the judicial system across the country, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa has established a National Judicial Automation Committee headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued a circular regarding the establishment of the committee. According to the announcement, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar is a member of the National Judicial Automation Committee.
The Court High Court and Federal Shariat Court judges will also be members of the committee. The committee will prepare a national plan to bring innovation to the judicial system. The Supreme Court Committee will introduce Artificial Intelligence in the judicial system and research. It will create a mobile app for the improvement of justice and the procedure of cases.
Justice Shah said that the judiciary should adopt innovation in technology. He said that the world has moved towards technology since the Industrial Revolution. It is time that the judicial system of Pakistan was introduced to modern technology and training programmes were started, he added.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar said that the digitalization of the judicial system is the beginning of the change. He said that he believes in increasing digital capabilities over time which will further improve access to justice.
According to the announcement, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah started a resource center and specific automation project during his tenure in the Lahore High Court. The system introduced by Justice Shah made a case flow management system in the Lahore High Court.
Justice Mazhar took several steps to equip the Sindh High Court with the IT technology. The National Judicial Automation Committee is a sub-committee of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee headed by CJP Isa.
