LANIKOTAL: All Torkham clearing agents association has threatened that they would go on strike from July 05, against the undue interference in the clearing process by the preventive staff of the custom at the border. During a meeting held on Tuesday in Torkham, the clearing agents threatened that they would halt all the trading activities at the border as the preventive staff of the custom in Torkham creating hurdles in the clearing process for them and traders as well. The staff was accused of undue interference in the goods clearing process which badly affects export and import between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Due to the wastage of the time by the preventive staff, fresh fruits and vegetables loaded in vehicles were breaking down during the hot weather at the border, they said. They threatened that they would go on an indefinite strike from upcoming Friday if the concerned authorities did not take notice against the issue to facilitate the clearing agents and traders at Torkham border.
