A review meeting was held with the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Industry and Technical Education, Abdul Karim Tordhir in the chair, discussing the progress made towards establishing the “Namak Mandi Gems Processing and Export City” project in Peshawar.
Secretary Industry Amir Afaq, Senior Planning Officer Basit Khalil, representatives from the Urban Mobility Authority, KP Board of Investment and Trade, BRT, and the All Pakistan Commercial Exporter Association.
The meeting was informed of the efforts made so far and the goals achieved in implementing this project, which aims to establish a comprehensive facility for processing and trading gems.
The project has made significant progress, and a plan has been proposed to establish the city at BRT’s commercial plaza in Chamkani, which will provide an international mailing office, customs office, banking facility, and other global facilities. The Special Assistant emphasized the importance of this project for the economic development of the province and instructed the concerned institutions to fulfill their responsibilities within the given timeline.
He directed that formal correspondence with the Transport Department regarding the plaza should be implemented as soon as possible and that the Export Development Fund should be approached for the establishment of this city and the provision of required facilities. A timeline of fifteen days was given to the concerned authorities to complete the necessary tasks.
The Special Assistant stressed the need for rapid progress in completing the project’s requirements in a single phase.
