CM-KP accords approval to provision of cash compensation for flood-hit people

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday accorded approval to a comprehensive cash compensation program for the rehabilitation of houses destroyed in the recent floods, adding repatriation of flood-hit families was the key priority of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Chairing the first meeting of the committee to oversee the management and utilization of Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund held here on Tuesday, said a statement issued from CM House.
Mahmood Khan directed the concerned authorities for opening of donation accounts in all major banks in order to facilitate donors and philanthropists in addition to involving international donors so that maximum amount can be collected.
The Chief Minister maintained that all the deserving should get their rights and necessary steps should be taken in order to prevent misuse of the funds.
“The provincial government is working sincerely to rehabilitate the maximum number of peoples in the shortest possible time,” he added.
Mahmood Khan added that the compensation amount has been increased considerably to make sure that the flood affectees were able to return to their normal lives.
Khan said that the provincial government would utilize all its resources to facilitate flood-hit people across parts of KP.
“The provincial government is well aware of the problems being faced by the flood affectees and the provincial government’s helicopter has also been dedicated for relief and rehabilitation operations since day one,” he maintained.
Currently the helicopter is busy in relief and rehabilitation operations in Lower Kohistan, he added and said that besides other relief activities, 6000 kg food items have been provided to flood activities in Ranoliya, Dobair, Kehal and Chawadara areas of Lower Kohistan.
Food packages being provided to flood affectees include Wheat Flour, Ghee, Tea, Sugar, Pulses and other food items.
Senator Dr Sania Nishter, Provincial Ministers Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Kamran Bangash, Chief Secretary Dr. Shehzad Bangash, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah and other members attended the meeting.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said that September 6th, 1965 was a historical day in the record of Pakistan as on that day our valiant army made it clear to the world that we were totally capable of defending our liberty and sovereignty.
In his message on the occasion of Defense Day, the Chief Minister said our army men, by rendering their lives on September 6, 1965, frustrated the nefarious designs of the enemy and made them run for their lives. With the befitting response of the Pakistan Army on Sept 6, 1965, he said Pakistan has become a stronger and impregnable state today.
Being a live nation, the Chief Minister said we could go to any extent for the security of our motherland adding that for the cause of our defense and sovereignty we were ready to offer any sacrifice.
