Sohail Afridi visits Bannu and Hangu, expresses solidarity with terror hit victims’ families

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday visited Bannu and later Hangu following recent terrorist attacks on police and civilians, expressing solidarity with victims’ families and reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism.
In Bannu, the chief minister visited injured police personnel at the District Headquarters Hospital and directed authorities to ensure provision of the best possible medical treatment, stating that any negligence in care would not be tolerated. He lauded the bravery and sacrifices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in the ongoing fight against militancy.
He also visited the homes of martyred policemen, offered Fateha, and assured bereaved families that the government would not leave them alone. He announced that, in addition to the martyrs’ package, the provincial government would bear all educational expenses of their children. He further stated that a modern, fully equipped police station would be constructed at Fateh Khel.
Chairing a jirga at Bacha Khan Hall, Bannu, attended by parliamentarians, tribal elders and officials, the chief minister said the province had suffered decades of violence and criticised what he called “flawed and imposed policies” contributing to renewed instability. He stressed the need for collective efforts for lasting peace and said the provincial government and police would respond firmly to terrorism.
He also stated that resources worth over Rs30 billion had already been provided to strengthen police, Counter Terrorism Department and Special Branch, with further allocations planned to enhance operational capacity and modernise police infrastructure.
Later in Hangu, the chief minister met families of those martyred in the Durrori Banda attack, offered condolences, and assured them of full government support, including the martyrs’ package. He chaired another jirga with tribal elders and officials to discuss the security situation and peace efforts.
He reiterated that peace and stability remain the government’s top priority and vowed continued action against terrorism, stating that sacrifices of martyrs would not go in vain.
