Committee to find out the causes of cyber attack on NTC, Amin Ul Haq

The Federal Minister for IT has said that national and private institutions should adapt their security system to modern requirements.

According to press release a meeting was held here on Wednesday on cyber security chaired by Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haq.
The meeting was attended by Secretary IT, Additional Secretary, Chairman PTA, Member IT, and Member Telecom, MD NTC, Executive Director ITB and officials of intelligence agencies also attended.

During the meeting, the Federal Minister for IT was briefed about the cyber attack on NTC (National Telecom Corporation) networking site. The attack did not affect the data, the services were automatically suspended due to being on the networking side.

A committee headed by Additional Secretary has been set up to find out the causes of cyber attack and prevent future attacks. The committee will include officials from PTA, NTC, NTISB and intelligence agencies.

E-cabinet and e-office system should be shifted to separate system to make it more secure. Last year, NTC foiled millions of cyber attacks, proof of its safety, In the digital world, every day a new invention, thousands of cyber concerns arise against it the Minister was briefed.

Amin ul Haq said during meeting that all abilities are being used to adapt oneself to the requirements of the time. It is imperative that all government agencies transfer data to the most secure NTC system, NTC has effective cyber security system, more innovation and security is being ensured under the cyber security policy.

The IT ministry was issued a note on 10th May 2022 that a attack was launched on the networking website at 11:30am today which was prevented because of a “safe cyber security system” in place.

The ministry was told that there are websites of various departments on the NTC servers. However, some of the websites were automatically suspended which were reactivated within three hours.
