Provincial Minister for Local Government Mian Zeeshan Rafique has said that a comprehensive plan has been formulated to maintain law and order during Muharram, provide foolproof security to gatherings and processions and provide all basic facilities to the participants.
He said that special instructions have been issued to the deputy commissioners and DPOs of all districts to repair the routes of the processions, installation of lights and carry out the cleaning arrangements in a better manner, the implementation of which will be ensured in every case.
He stated this while addressing a video link meeting with the district administration, police officials and members of the district peace committees of Gujranwala and Gujrat divisions at the conference room of the DC Office Sialkot on Saturday.
Commissioner Gujranwala Division Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi, Regional Police Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali, DPO Faisal Shahzad and other officers were present in the meeting.
Provincial Minister said that the Punjab government has made extraordinary arrangements to ensure an atmosphere of peace and order during Muharram. Those who spread sectarianism and hatred on social media will be dealt with with an iron hand, while there is a complete ban on drone coverage in gatherings and processions.
Mian Zeeshan said that scholars have a key role in promoting peace, brotherhood, patience and tolerance in the society, which cannot be ignored under any circumstances. Scholars should spread the message of unity and solidarity in their speeches so that the society becomes a cradle of peace and harmony.
