HULT Prize competition’s quarter final round was held at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) at the Seminar Hall of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The yearly HULT Prize, in partnership with the United Nations (UN), is the world’s largest college and university students’ competition for budding social entrepreneurs. The process involves working with the academic institutions, the students, and members of community to spread awareness of the UN’s Challenge, promoting social entrepreneurship as a sustainable means to solve it. This year’s theme is “Building the foundation of a venture that will provide meaningful work for 10,000 youth within the next decade”.
The winners of the intra-campus event will automatically advance to compete in one of the 27 regional finals happening around the world. The final round of competition will be hosted in September 2019 and the winning team of the final round shall be awarded $1,000,000 prize.
The HULT Prize competition held at CUI had 15 participating teams. The sponsors for this event were PASTIC, Coca Cola and National Incubation Center. The Judges panel consisted of 08 professionals from the Industry.
Out of 15 teams, Team Solution Makers qualified for final round in Dubai. Team Apna Kitchen and Team Shirjoin were declared as runners up. Team Solution Makers idea was to create a platform where people could buy cheap stuff online through different sellers providing stuff in bulk creating large scale mid-level jobs.
Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan, In charge Undergraduate programs, Department of Management Sciences and President BEAMS, CUI appreciated the Judges, sponsors and media partners for contributing to the event. He also thanked the judges for sparing their precious time to grace the event. At the end, the judges were presented Certificates of appreciation.
