Court rejects plea for granting immediate stay order against E-Challan in Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) while rejecting the plea of granting immediate stay order against e-challan in Karachi has sought reply from DIG traffic and others. The petitions filed by JI, Markazi Muslim League and others came up for hearing in SHC Tuesday. Chief secretary Sindh, provincial government, IG Sindh, DIG Traffic, police, NADRA and other institutions have been made respondents. The petitioners took the plea the heavy fines have become merely sources of income. The counsel for the petitioner took the plea the fine in Lahore is different fine and fine in Karachi is different fine. The fines on violation of traffic rules in Karachi are far higher than fine in Lahore. . Discriminatory treatment is being meted out to the citizens of Karachi. The court moved to the counsel for the petitioner and said “ don’t make comparison of Karachi with some other city. Every city has its own ground realities. Another counsel for the petitioner said he has appeared on behalf of bus owners. We the bus walas are not allowed to pick the commuter. The court said you should stop the buses at bus stand. The counsel Munsif Jan told the court no proper bus stand is here. DNA
