RAWALPINDI
A Rawalpindi district court on Friday sent PTI’s former MPA and woman leader Seemabia Tahir Satti to jail on 5-day judicial remand in connection with the May 9 violence.
She was arrested by the police along with two others namely Shakir Hussain, and Munsif Aalam a day ago for their alleged involvement in the attack on GHQ and Metro Bus Station’s arson. On the plea of Newtown police, the court ordered the accused to be sent to jail on judicial remand.
However, their lawyers contested the court decision regarding the judicial lock-up. They held that considering the facts, the court should order the discharge of the three accused from the case. But the court directed the Jail Superintendent to complete the necessary arrangements for the identification parade of the accused.
The court observed that the accused should not be allowed to meet anyone until the identification parade is completed. The court further directed that after the process of the identification parade, inform the court in detail about the progress on 3rd August.
The learned court accepting the request for medical examination on behalf of the accused passed orders to the Jail Superintendent to conduct medical examination of the accused in the jail. On May 10, Newtown police station registered case number 2106 under ATA/7 and various provisions.
