The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has expressed its grave concern over ignoring regional newspapers of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa in sharing display advertisements released by the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa govt.
In a press release from Karachi the CPNE said that it was highhandedness on the part of KPK govt to deprive the regional dailies of display advertisements.
The Press release said that hundreds of journalists were part of regional newspapers in KPK and denial of display advertisements was nothing but to create financial hurdles in their way. The release said that regional newspapers of KPK were the mirror of local and regional people and ignoring them in display was cruel to the freedom of Press.
The CPNE demanded the KPK Chief Minister Mehmood Khan, KPK Advisor Information Ajmal Wazir, secretary information and Director General Information to include the regional and local newspapers in display advertisements to bring at par with those of the other provinces of the country.
