PESHAWAR: Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) during its ongoing crackdown in erstwhile Fata against power theft has arrested three people electricity thieves. Chief Executive Qazi Muhammad Tahir has said that on the instructions of the Ministry of Energy Power Division a comprehensive crackdown has been launched against power theft in tribal districts. He said that TESCO officials in tribal district Khyber have caught three electricity thieves red-handed from different areas of the district. The arrested persons were allegedly involved in installing direct wire and making holes in the body of the meter, shunt system and tempering the body of the meter. After disconnecting the connections of these electricity thieves, more than 5000 detection units have been issued and fines of more than 2 lakhs. The officials have said that more applications have been filed for registration of FIR in the respective police stations for legal action against them. Chief Executive Qazi Muhammad Tahir has appealed to consumers to keep a close eye on electricity theft. DLP Report
