Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Forests and Environment Fazal Hakeem Khan Yousafzai has warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals involved in forest harvesting and deforestation in the province.
According to an official handout issued here on Wednesday, the provincial minister claimed that following a viral video of tree cutting in Sub-Division Bitgram, an 8-member committee has been found to probe into the matter.
He said that based on the report, three forest department officials have been suspended, and an FIR has been registered against those involved.
Yousafzai assured that forestry officials have been instructed to closely monitor such incidents and take measures to protect forests.
He also clarified that old videos and foreign footage are being shared on social media to spread propaganda against the PTI government in KP.
The minister emphasized that the provincial government was taking all possible steps to ensure forest protection and no one will be allowed to destroy forests, adding that the public should play their role in ensuring forest protection.
