C&W accountant killed, relative injured during alleged robbery

PESHAWAR: An alleged robbery attempt on Warsak Road here Sunday turned deadly when unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire, killing a government employee and injuring his close relative. Police said, the incident occurred in Michani Gate area near Abshar Colony. The victim, Sadr Azam Chitrali, who worked as an accountant in the Communication and Works (C&W) Department, was reportedly out for a walk when he was held at gunpoint by the assailants. Upon resistance, the robbers shot him dead. Sadr Azam’s relative, Aftab Khan Chitrali, also sustained serious injuries in the gunfire and was shifted to a hospital for treatment. Reports say the deceased had come to visit his nephew’s house at Warsak Road. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. According to SP Warsak Sajjad Khan, the robbers did not take any cash or mobile phones from the victims. APP
